COMMUNITY PER-LED INTERVENTION PROGRA FOR TI s   FOR SUBSTANCE USE IN VIJAYAWADA.

In Vijayawada City HC&SWS has started Community Peer-Led Intervention program for Targeted Intervention for substance use among vulnerable children in Vijayawada city.   This project is running by financial assistance National Institute of Social Defense, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, New Delhi. This program exclusively based on Peer Education system to create awareness among substance use among vulnerable adolescent children.  There will be 20 peer educators  each peer educator maximum will  cover 10 to 15 children for each quarter in selected hot spot areas to mitigate substance use.  The Peer Educators training was postponed actually to next year i.e third quarter because of some technical planning scheduled would be provided by NISD.  The Geographical area of TI s of this project intervention is socially economically culturally is some back drop and majority of families below poverty and daily labor.  Hence the children of this located family explored to risk behavior of substance use.   Till now no agency has worked on this concept of this project activities.  And we have identified 15 referral agencies identified in the year to refer the children for their sustainability and access other resource services.In Vijayawada City we have identified major 30 hot spot areas,  in these 30 hot spots we have conducted 40 group sessions in selected areas and identified 25 Peer Educators among them selected 20 Peer Educators to intervene the project activities is one of the activity is creating awareness  to their peers and identified substance use vulnerable children and bring them to psychosocial therapies and counselling to get BCC.  The 20 Peer Educator will be trained in Peer Education system and Life Skills Education to get knowledge their peers as well as.
