Dr.B.R. Ambedhkar Integrated Rehabilitaiton Center for adicts (IRCA)

• Health care & Social Welfare Society established Dr.BR Ambedhkar Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA) at Kandukur, Prakasam District, in the year 01.04.2015. The main objectives of the program are:
• To offer a holistic treatment through residential and multi disciplinary therapeutic services by a team of experts comprising of psychiatric, physicians, paramedical staff and counselors.
• To create awareness and educating the public about the ill-effects to alcoholism and substance abuse on the individual, the family and society at large.
• To evolve culture-specific models for the prevention of alcoholism and substance abuse, treatment cum rehabilitation for the welfare of drug addicts.
• To provide services for the whole range of community based services for the identification, motivation, counseling, de-addiction, after care & Re-habilitation of addicts.
• To increase community participation and public co-operation in the reduction of demand for dependence.
• Experienced staff liked Psychologists, Social Worker, Counsellor, Yoga Therapists and Para-professional Staff, i.e. Recovered Addicts. The module is integrated with the community oriented approach adopted at the de-addiction centre has vastly contributed towards the great success and achievements of our de-addiction center.

          IRCA project staff conducts five awareness camps per month on addiction and its adverse effects in the vicinity of the project area and motivate clients for treatment with the help of SHG leaders, Medical Health Staff, School Teachers, Surpanch, ward members, family members of the clients etc. Once client shows the willingness, after thorough examination clients admitted for detoxification, medical treatment and counseling.

         The high risk clients are treating at Dr.BR. Ambedkar IRCA as inpatient clients. Fifteen to twenty inpatients have been treating in this center every month. For the inpatient clients the Dr.BR. Ambedkar IRCA providing detoxification treatment under the supervision of a qualified Doctor, psychological counseling, Family Counseling, Group Therapy and follow up programs were conducted regularly by Therapists and trained counselors. The follow up programs also conducted by counselors through house visits, phone calls, and letters and AA gatherings.
